The Church Commissioners
The Commissioners’ main responsibility is to generate funds to support the work of parishes, cathedrals and clergy across the country.
The Church of England costs a little over £1 billion a year to run. In 2006 the Commissioners met around £172 million or one-sixth of this figure, including over £100 million spent on clergy pensions.
The Commissioners’ property portfolios are managed to produce a good return to help sustain the Church's work.
The Commissioners take a long-term view of their property investments such as Connaught Village and have reinforced their ownership in the area through selective purchases and refurbishments.
